Billing & wallet

Whatbot bills from a prepaid wallet, one per workspace. You top it up, and charges are debited as you use the platform. There is no monthly invoice to settle and no credit extended.

AI agent messages, at ₹0.20 per message the agent actually sends.

Meta’s WhatsApp charges depend on how your workspace is set up. Meta prices each delivered message by the recipient’s country and the message category.

  • On most workspaces, Meta bills you directly, on the payment method attached to your own WhatsApp Business Account (see below). Whatbot does not debit your wallet for these messages, so you are never charged twice.
  • Where Meta’s charges are settled through the wallet, you are charged Meta’s published rate for that market and category on the day the message was delivered.

If your workspace isn’t on prepaid billing, your Billing page says so and that Meta bills you directly. If you’re not sure which applies, ask Zetta Tech support.

Nothing else is metered. Receiving messages is free. So is your inbox, flows, forms, the catalogue, the API and everything else in the product.

What Meta charges for, and what it doesn’t

Section titled “What Meta charges for, and what it doesn’t”

Meta charges per delivered template message, by category:

CategoryCharged?
MarketingAlways
UtilityOnly outside an open customer-service window
AuthenticationYes
Service (free-form replies)Free

Two windows make messages free:

  • The 24-hour customer service window. When a customer messages you, you may reply freely — any number of non-template messages — for 24 hours. A new inbound message reopens it.
  • The 72-hour free entry point. A conversation that starts from a click-to-WhatsApp ad or a Page call-to-action is free for 72 hours, templates included.

Because those windows are tracked on Meta’s side, the cost of a message is not known when you send it. Meta tells us what it charged when it confirms delivery, and that is the figure your ledger shows.

Your balance has two parts:

  • Balance — everything credited, minus everything spent.
  • Reserved — money committed to a broadcast that is still running.

Available is balance minus reserved, and it is what the platform checks before sending.

A broadcast to 10,000 recipients commits its whole estimated cost the moment it starts, recipient by recipient. This is deliberate: delivery receipts arrive long after the last message goes out, so without a reservation a broadcast could spend past your balance before anything noticed. A broadcast you send now that your wallet cannot cover will not start — you’ll see Insufficient wallet balance. A scheduled broadcast isn’t checked in advance: when it runs, each message your balance can’t cover is not sent and is marked Not enough balance to send this message.

If a message is rejected, or a broadcast is cancelled, its reservation is released. Reservations for messages that are never delivered are released automatically after 30 hours.

Outbound messages stop sending. Inbound messages still arrive, your conversation history stays intact, and nothing is deleted. Top up and sending resumes immediately.

Set a low-balance threshold on the Billing page and we will email your admins before you get there — once a day at most.

Billing → Add funds. Payment is by UPI, card or net banking.

  • Prices are exclusive of GST; 18% is added at checkout.
  • Your wallet is credited with the amount you chose — the GST is tax, not balance.
  • A tax invoice is issued for every top-up.
  • Credits are not transferable between workspaces and are not redeemable for cash.

Only workspace admins can top up. Every member can see the balance and the ledger — an agent who cannot see why sending stopped will just ask you.

Every charge is one row, and each row names what caused it:

EntryMeaning
Top-upMoney added
WhatsApp messageA delivered message Meta charged for
AI agent messageA message an AI agent sent
Reserved for broadcastCommitted while a broadcast runs
Reservation releasedGiven back — send failed, or cancelled
Manual adjustmentA credit or correction applied by us, with a reason
RefundMoney returned

A message row shows the market and the category Meta charged under, so a charge can always be traced back to the message that caused it.

Workspaces that are not on prepaid billing

Section titled “Workspaces that are not on prepaid billing”

Some workspaces run unmetered. The ledger still records everything, so you can see exactly what you use, but nothing is blocked and no balance is required. Your Billing page says so when this applies.

A payment method on your WhatsApp Business Account

Section titled “A payment method on your WhatsApp Business Account”

Separately from the wallet, Meta will not deliver template messages from a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) until that WABA has its own payment account set up in Meta’s Billing & payments. Cards are not shared between WABAs, so every new WABA needs it — even if another one in the same business already has a card. Until it is done, incoming messages arrive but template sends fail. See Meta billing is per WABA.
