Blue tick (verified badge)

A number with the blue tick is an Official Business Account on WhatsApp. Customers see a blue tick next to your business name in every chat, including every message you send from whatbot. Meta decides who gets it. whatbot can’t promise an approval, but it does every other step for you, and it’s free on every whatbot plan.

Open Settings → WhatsApp Numbers. Each active number has a blue tick pill next to it:

PillMeaning
Check blue tickThe page doesn’t know yet whether the number can apply. Only Meta can say, so click it to check.
Get the blue tick — freeThe number meets Meta’s requirements. You can apply.
Blue tick: not eligibleSomething on the checklist isn’t met yet.
Blue tick in reviewYour request has been received or is with Meta.
Blue tickMeta approved it.

Click the pill to open the blue tick window. It checks the number with Meta each time it opens.

The window shows a checklist with a tick or a cross on each line, and tells you what to do about anything that isn’t met.

RequirementWhat it means
API-only numberMeta never gives the blue tick to a number that also runs in the WhatsApp Business app. Only numbers used through the API alone can apply.
Connected to the WhatsApp APIThe number has finished connecting. If not, use Check on the number to see what’s missing.
Display name approved by MetaMeta has approved the number’s display name.
Business verified with MetaThe business that owns the WhatsApp Business Account has finished Meta Business Verification.
On WhatsApp API for 30+ daysThe number has been on whatbot for at least 30 days. The checklist shows the date you can apply from.
No rejection in the last 30 daysShown only after a rejection. You can apply again 30 days after Meta’s decision.
A well-known brandMeta judges this itself, mostly from independent news articles about you. Paid ads and your own pages don’t count.

A line with a question mark means Meta didn’t say. It doesn’t stop you applying, because Meta checks it anyway.

  1. Click the number’s blue tick pill. When the check finds the number eligible, a form appears under the checklist.
  2. Enter Your website.
  3. Add up to 5 news articles about your brand. The more independent press, the better your chance. Each link must start with http:// or https://.
  4. Optionally, add anything else Meta should know.
  5. Click Request the blue tick.

The pill changes to Blue tick in review, and whatbot sends the request to Meta for you. Meta usually replies within 1–2 weeks.

whatbot checks Meta’s decision every hour and emails you as soon as there is one. The email goes to the admin who made the request, and to the workspace’s billing email and owner if they’re set.

Approved: the pill changes to Blue tick, and customers see the tick in every chat. There’s nothing else to do.

Rejected: nothing else about your number or whatbot changes. The pill shows Blue tick: not eligible, and the checklist shows the date you can apply again, 30 days after Meta’s decision. When you apply again, your website and links from last time are filled in. Add more independent press coverage if you can, because that is mostly what Meta judges.
